BENCH 02 · WETZLAR

Melt
Glass is poured in 40kg pots and annealed for nine days. A pot yields enough for four front elements, or none.

Grind
Curves are generated, then hand-lapped against test plates until the interference fringes go straight.
03
Coat
Six coating runs per surface in a vacuum chamber the size of a wardrobe. The colour you see is the layer stack.
04
Seat
One person seats all eleven elements, shims the spacing, and signs the barrel. Their initials go under the mount.
